Story Behind the Invention

Inventor Allysa Gonzales of Billings, MT has created a new medical onesie for children that lets patients stay comfortable as they receive treatment through the garment.

The idea began to take shape after her daughter was born 10 weeks early with Down syndrome, heart disease, lung disease, and pulmonary hypertension. Her daughter then developed a severe case of pneumonia that left her fighting for her life and she stayed in the hospital for 10 months. During this time, she could only wear a diaper, or a romper with front snaps, because she had many wires, leads, and IVs. Around midnight one evening, a design popped into Allysas head that would help her daughter stay comfortable while making the job of the medical staff a little easier. After all, patient clothing does not often permit easy access for medical devices and must be removed prior to treatment. For a young child, this process can be difficult and upsetting. Luckily now theres Undercover MediOne!

The invention features flaps on both arms for full IV access. Hidden inseam ports have also been incorporated for medical lines and/or a G-Tube. An opening at the feet has been added for a pulse oximeter sensor. All medical monitoring wires will be out of the way and the onesie can be fully closed.
