Story Behind the Invention

Inventor Ricky Strogen of Midlothian, TX has created motorized landing gear for tractor trailers.

As a certified refrigeration technician, Ricky will often assist drivers in lowering the legs of a trailer. After seeing many injuries occur during this process, he began thinking about the effect it would have on his family if he were to become injured while doing this. He just knew there had to be a safer way to lower and lift trailer legs. In turn, he was inspired to create the Trailer Power Leg!

The invention provides a streamlined way to lift and lower the legs on a trailer. No longer will a driver have to perform the task manually. When a trucker wants to elevate or lower the landing gear legs, they will simply activate the control lever. The protected electric motor will deliver powerful torque to adjust the landing gear legs upward or downward in a smooth, controlled, and effortless manner. This will save a great deal of time and energy. It will also prevent any back, arm, or shoulder strain, thereby keeping a driver on the job longer! In the future, the invention could easily be adapted to an unmanned truck, too.
