Story Behind the Invention
Inventor Marv Wawerski of Ottawa, IL has created a solution that will help plumbers in the industry increase production, save time, and eliminate spills and waste, while creating a safer and more secure working environment.
As a plumber during the housing boom, Marv and a crew of other plumbers were frequently putting in drains and venting, going up and down ladders, under floors, and in ceiling rafters. The crew used solvent to weld PVC pipes and fittings together. The solvent consisted of a 32 oz. can of glue and a 32 oz. can of primer. They would duct tape the two cans together and get to work. However, they would always run out of glue first and still have half the primer left. The remaining primer was then taped to a new can of glue, or just thrown in the dumpster, which always seemed like a waste. The practice itself was very tricky on rafters, ladders, and uneven ground. Sometimes workers would need medical attention after cans fell and splashed in their eyes. Marv just knew there had to be a better way. In turn, he developed the The Can Companion!
The invention is portable and easy to use. It is designed to fit over the top of rafters, the top plate of walls, and the steps of industry ladders. The handle allows for safe carry and fits properly on the front hook of all industry ladders. The locking bands are made to fit 32 oz. cans of glue and primer that are primarily used by plumbers using solvent welding, PVC, CPVC, etc. The band locking system makes exchanging cans safer and easier. It is more stable, more productive, and causes less waste.
