Story Behind the Invention

Inventors Coy McClain and Billy Shepard have developed a safer electrical box option for you and your family.

Due to the lives that are taken by electrical in-home breaker box fires, Coy wanted to design a safer electrical box. He had a television screen in front of him, which had him thinking. With technology changing, every device out there is touch screen. Not only would this look sleek and more up to date, a touch screen electrical box would protect all users from lethal levels of energy. In turn, Coy and Billy were inspired to create McClains Touch Screen Electrical Box!

The invention features an electronic touch screen that displays the status of each circuit as to whether it is on, off, or tripped. A user will simply activate or deactivate a given fuse or circuit breaker by tapping the corresponding image on the touch screen. The case is both childproof and fireproof. It will keep a user from being exposed to any potential surfaces or components that could be energized or pose an arcing hazard. Additionally, any faults that could happen inside the panel are contained and do not pose an explosion hazard to those who may be located nearby.
