Story Behind the Invention

Some loofahs may be simple, others may be attached to either a bamboo or plastic stick, and some are designed to be eco-friendly. But none of them compare to the Lufendable loofah.

With a small washroom and limited storage space, Inventors Onaiz Shah and Maha Shah of Indian Head Park, IL never thought they could own a stick loofah. When the loofahs on the market were not meeting their needs, they were inspired to create an eco-friendly, extendable stick loofah. The extendable stick makes it easy to store, great for travel, and it helps reach those hard-to-access places. The Lufendable loofah is especially great for pregnant women or individuals who may have difficulty doing everyday tasks with ease. The extendable stick makes life more convenient and comfortable for users. In addition to being convenient, Lufendable prides itself on also being eco-friendly and aims to reduce plastic waste that other loofahs are contributing to. According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, in 2018, landfills received 27 MILLION TONS of plastic.

The concept of Lufendable is simple. The adjustable stick can be extended based on your needs. Going on a trip? Push the stick down and store it away easily! Trying to reach a hard spot? Extend the stick to the length you need! When it is time for a new loofah, a consumer can simply snap it off and recycle the old one. Current loofahs on the market do not have recyclable sticks and unfortunately, most end up in landfills. But with Lufendable, the consumer can snap on a new loofah when needed and continue to use the extendable stick. Currently, there is no loofah on the market that offers extendibility, storability, detachability, and offers the option to use the loofah with or without the stick.
