Story Behind the Invention

Inventor Thomas Groth of Merrill, WI has combined a removable fishing pole with a tip-up rig for an improved ice fishing experience!

As a pro fisherman, Thomas was inspired to create a unique solution for reeling in fish using only the line. The Flatliner is his creation. But how does it work? The invention is a tip-up rig featuring a rod holder and a locking hook attached to a trigger pin. Route the fishing line of your rod through one end of the locking hook, then install the provided bobber stop and release on your line before dropping it in the hole. Next, choose from four trigger positions and ten trigger settings. Adjust the depth of your bait with the bobber stop, then set it and forget it. Alarm spheres - or the audible indicator - alert you when a fish strikes. The trigger falls out of the way and the line free spools. Close the bale, set the hook, and use the rod to reel your fish in through the ice. The invention is also ideal for replacing rattle reels and tip ups on sunny days outside!
