Story Behind the Invention
Inventor Brian J. Ward of Harrodsburg, KY has created a shovel with a ratcheting handle that allows for the improved application of leverage during digging operations.
Although the standard spade shovel has been around for generations, it is not without its faults. Perhaps the biggest of these faults is the inability to properly apply leverage to the shovel handle. Depending on how the shovel is inserted, the handle will be too far forward or too far backward. This places the user at a bad angle which can cause injuries and extended work times.
Inventor Ward was inspired to devise a way to get the maximum potential from a shovel. The Wards Way Shovel has a ratcheting mechanism at the connection between the spade section and the handle. This ratchet mechanism allows the handle to move back and forth in relation to the head and allows a user to apply leverage to the shovel body while always in an upright and stable position.
This clever new invention is quicker and easier than conventional shovels. It provides proper leverage, regardless of shovel position. Its ergonomic design helps prevent repetitive stress injuries. It is sturdy and durable. It is great for landscaping and construction projects.
