Story Behind the Invention
Inventor Don Racette of Regina, SK has created an aftermarket retractable tie-down system for pickup trucks and similar flat bed vehicles or trailers.
Ratchet clamp down straps for moving and securing objects are indispensable when compared to regular ropes. These straps provide a large amount of holding force, are easily tightened and loosened, and remain safely secured even when subject to vibration, weather elements, and shifting loads. However, useful as these ratchet straps are, they are not without their disadvantages. First, such straps are easy to misplace, and difficult to find when needed. Secondly, these straps are difficult to apply by one person as the weight of the hook or ratcheting mechanism will pull the strap away, forcing the need for multiple attempts. Finally, such straps are messy to store, and time consuming to wind up after use. Inventor Racette has created a means by which the functionality and performance of ratcheting tie-down straps can be appreciated, without these issues.
This clever new invention is permanently installed. The straps are ready to go at all times. Simply pull the strap free from the reel on one side, and up and over the load. The device is safe and reliable. It is great for moving, camping, vacations, and the like. The use of the Tie Down Straps for Truck Bed provides users the functionality, flexibility, and strength of conventional ratchet straps while making them easy to use, in a manner which is quick, easy, and effective.
