Sink Overflow Plugs and Plunger

Inventor Douglas Lawrence Risko of Walled Lake, MI has created a kit containing a standard sink plunger and a series of rubber stoppers to plug the overflow opening on sinks during the plunging operation.

Perhaps there is no plumbing task more distressing than having to deal with clogged drain piping. Many people use chemical drain cleaners, but these cleaners are hazardous to store, especially with children and pets around. They can also be dangerous to piping and sink surfaces. Additionally, chemical drain cleaners pose environmental dangers as they are flushed onto waste water treatment facilities. Others turn to plungers, but they are somewhat ineffective on sinks with an overflow opening, such as a bathroom sink. Any positive or negative pressure generated by the plunger escapes out of the overflow, rather than being directed to the clog. Users often use rags or even their hands to cover the openings, but these are not airtight solutions. Inventor Risko has created a means by which overflow openings on sink drains can be completely and securely covered.
