Extendable Stabilizer Plate for a Chainsaw

Inventor Roger D. Ferguson Jr. of Yorktown, IN has created a starting safety device for gasoline powered chainsaws.

Although a useful tool, the chainsaw is often known for causing horrific injuries. Many of these accidents occur when starting a chainsaw, as the saw is frequently held in only one hand, and jerked downward while pulling upward on the pull cord to start the saw. Not only is this action dangerous should the chain contact the user, but it is also dangerous due to the possibility of ergonomic injury from the large weight, and heavy forces applied by one's arms, shoulders, and backs. Inventor Ferguson has created a means by which gasoline powered chainsaws can be easily started in a safe and simple manner to address these concerns.

This clever new invention eliminates having to hold a chainsaw in one hand while starting it with the other. A user stands upon a stabilizing plate while staring the chainsaw. The device is strong and durable. It improves safety and reduces ergonomic injuries. It comes standard or as optional equipment on new chainsaws.
