Story Behind the Invention

Inventor Michael Issler of Stanhope, NJ has created a hard rubber-like cover for water shut-off valve assemblies located in lawn areas. The cover protects mowers and other lawn equipment from damage.

Many homes and businesses that receive water from a municipal water source have a shut-off valve located in the lawn area near the perimeter of their property. This valve allows for water shut-off for bill non-payment, shut-off control for the main line, and internal shutoff valve should maintenance or repair be required. These valve housing assemblies are usually brown or black in color, and are difficult to find, especially if rapid access is required in the event of an emergency repair. Their location also makes them a tripping hazard. This elevated position also poses a problem should they be struck by a lawnmower where costly repair, or even total replacement of the mower is then required. Inventor Issler has created a means by which water shut-off valve assemblies located in lawn areas can be covered to prevent these issues.

This clever new invention is for use on municipal water valve shut-off assemblies. It provides physical protection of the valve. The dome design is made of bright easy-to-see colors. The device prevents trips and falls and costly damage to lawnmowers. A steel ring attaches as part of the factory assembly inside the dome. The use of the Polymer Cover for Water Shut-off allows for physical protection of lawn mounted water shut-off valve assemblies, in a manner which not only protects the valve assembly, but other people and equipment as well.
