Story Behind the Invention

Inventor Alba Iris Contreras of Lexington, KY has created an apparatus that allows for an improved means of picking up pet feces.

Most pets live in the house and must be walked throughout the neighborhood for exercise. As pets are usually no longer confined to the back yard, cleaning up after them has taken on a heightened sense of duty. Laws have also become strict regarding the cleaning up of animal waste. This requires having something portable to bring during walks, which is also able to be transported back to the home. Pet waste collectors do exist, but they tend to be heavy and unmanageable. In addition, it is usually necessary for one to clean the fecal matter from the apparatus after use. Plastic bags are often used, however, this requires one to kneel down close to the waste, use ones hand to capture the waste, and carry the waste within the bag throughout the remainder of the walk. Inventor Contreras has created a means by which the functionality of a waste collector and the ease and convenience of a waste bag can be incorporated into one device.

This clever new invention is easy to carry. Hands stay clean. It can be folded like an umbrella. It is lightweight and durable. It can be used for animal waste or other garbage. The use of the Pet Waste Collector allows for an improved, more sanitary, means of collecting pet feces that is also quick, easy, and effective.
