Story Behind the Invention
Inventors Vickie L. Stoddard and Steven W. Stoddard of Lynn, MA have created a hand held exercise weight system with integral self protective features.
The muscular and cardiovascular workout associated with running and jogging make these exercises an effective means by which to stay fit. To further enhance their workout, many people carry hand held weights in order to help build upper body strength as well as increase endurance. Unfortunately, many runners and joggers are the victims of physical assault by either humans or dogs. Pepper spray, shock systems, and dog repellants can be carried by the runner or jogger, but these devices take time to access and activate. Inventors Stoddard have created a means by which people can be provided with both an increased physical workout as well as physical protection.
This clever new invention increases safety by use of a loud alarm to alert bystanders. A loud noise in an ultrasonic spectrum keeps dogs away. The weights are available from one pound to several pounds. The device is shock resistant and waterproof. The audible alarm is provided in one weight and the dog repelling system is in the other. The use of the Hand Held Weights with Optional Deterrent Devices allows for increased personal safety as well as an increased workout when running or jogging.
