Story Behind the Invention
Inventor Jim Champlone of Medicine Hat, AB has created an apparatus to prevent water flow through a culvert in the event of an oil or other hazardous material spill.
Recent events in our history have exposed the vulnerabilities of bodies of water to the effects of an oil spill or hazardous chemical spill. Many spills do not happen in large bodies of water such as lakes or oceans, but happen in a water stream feeding such larger water areas. Smaller spills can occur at drilling sites, factories, or even from tanker truck accidents. These spills then quickly travel by roadside ditches or streams where they spread, causing even more damage and destruction. Unfortunately, there are only limited methods of stopping or controlling such spills in small waterways. Inventor Champlone has created a means by which oil spills and hazardous chemical spills can be quickly stopped and controlled.
This clever new invention deploys quickly and easily. It is a green product. It protects the environment by preventing a spill from spreading. It is strong and durable. Multiple sizes and shapes are available to fit all culverts, manholes, and catch basins. The use of the Deployable Culvert Plug System provides for the containment and control of oil and other hazardous chemicals through culverts in a manner which is quick, easy, and effective.
