Story Behind the Invention

Inventor Robert A. Merrell of Los Fresnos, TX has developed a simple way to flatten containers and save space in trash bags.

Many communities today are increasing awareness of dwindling natural resources and the importance of recycling and being green. While the benefits of such efforts have already made a significant impact, these efforts are accompanied by burdens. Recyclers must separate beverage cans, steel cans, and plastic containers into their own receptacles. The shape of such containers creates much wasted space, which requires the user to empty the recycling container on a frequent basis from getting full so quickly. Inventor Merrell has created a simple apparatus that can be used to manually crush various types of containers and save space.

This clever new invention requires no electrical power to operate and works with multiple sizes of containers. For the users convenience, the invention is compact and portable and it reduces waste volume. As a result, there are longer intervals between emptying the trash bin. The use of the Container Crusher provides for easy, efficient, and nearly automated compaction of all types of recyclable containers.
