Story Behind the Invention

Inventor Marc E. Rodriguez of Alvin, TX has created a strainer platform for use inside of a portable ice cooler that is intended to keep game meat cold, but without the possibility of it sitting in contaminated ice water.

Many hunters use a portable ice cooler to bring wild game meat home. Often game meat remains in the cooler on ice for several days to allow it to "bleed out". During this process, the ice will melt over the meat, and slowly drain to the bottom of the cooler. However, this means that there is always water and drained blood left in the bottom of the cooler with the meat sitting in it. This is an unsanitary condition and can lead to premature spoilage of the meat. Inventor Rodriguez has created a means by which wild game meat can be kept in an ice cooler for days, without worry of it sitting in melted, contaminated ice water.

This clever new invention is for use in the bottom of ice coolers. It ensures food safety. Drain holes allow the ice on top of the tray to melt and drain through the bottom. It can be a standard accessory or an aftermarket item for existing coolers. It is great for picnic or camping foods as well. The use of the ColanderTray For Coolers ensures that game meat or any food product will not sit in contaminated ice water while in a portable ice cooler, in a manner that is not only quick, easy, and effective, but safe as well.
