Story Behind the Invention

Baked goods such as cakes, pies, brownies, and even breads are a favorite with most everyone. Their taste, texture and even their sweet-tooth appeal make baked goods a part of nearly everyones diet on a daily basis. However, even the best tasting and best prepared food can lose its taste appeal based upon poor presentation. There is nothing that will ruin its presentation faster than sloppily cut, uneven sized pieces of food. No one wants to see a plate of brownies, or a cake that was cut crooked or uneven. However, such cutting takes practice and, more importantly time, which many bakers (professional or amateur) simply do not have.

Inventor Frances W. Carrell from Hesperia, CA, has developed the Cutting Guide for Baked Goods which cuts baked goods into even, symmetrical pieces for serving. This set is comprised of interlocking stainless steel blades, arranged in rectangular, square and circular formats, to fit a specific type of baked food.

For example, a grid pattern of squares would be used to cut brownies in a pan. A star shaped pattern would be used to cut a pie or round cake into pie-shaped pieces. A straight pattern of parallel blades would be used to cut bread or loaf-type baked goods. The blades would have a serrated cutting edge that is easily pushed into the food product. The resultant cut pieces are identical in size or shape. A series of two, top-mounted wood or plastic handles allow the food product to be cut all at once. It is also envisioned that the invention would be collapsible to aid in storage, and a plastic storage sleeve would also be provided with the invention. The invention is perfect for use in foil, metal, glass or even plastic pans. The invention provides users with the ability to cut and serve all types of baked goods in a manner that is not only quick and easy, but produces appealing and appetizing food portions as well.
