Story Behind the Invention

Inventors Dianne Baxter and Philip Alder of Texas City, TX have designed an angled trough for pouring concrete into vertical formwork with ease.

In addition to being used in foundations, walls, driveways, and sidewalks, concrete is often used to produce vertical items such as columns and posts. This kind of construction requires vertical forms which must be filled from the top. This means a worker must strain their body and haul heavy buckets of concrete to pour in the top. In general, filling vertical forms can be a very time consuming and messy endeavor. In turn, Dianne and Philip were inspired to create the Concrete Slide!

During use, the slide is positioned at the top of an area like a column or post. Concrete is then poured into the upper part of the trough from a truck or pump. A worker will simply push the concrete down the trough and into the form. Not only will this eliminate spills and mess, but it will keep workers from having to carry heavy buckets of concrete. It will also be beneficial for situations where the top of the form is blocked by other sections of building or formwork.
