Story Behind the Invention
Inventor Joe M. Turner of Upton, WY has created a new and improved field dressing tool. While growing up, Joe would watch his father field dressing many deer and antelope. He would use his large hunting knife and a rock to split the pelvic bone. Joe quickly realized it was a very sensitive and lengthy procedure. Rocks or knives can slip or break. Or urine can taint the meat and then the meat must be cut off and thrown away. He just knew there had to be a better way to split the bone that has plagued him since he first started field dressing his own big game. In turn, he was inspired to develop the Big Game Pelvic Splitter! The invention is a hatchet-shaped device with a U-shaped cutting tool opposite the hatchet blade. The tool is used to cut through the pelvic bone. It can then be turned around and used as a gut hook. Most notably, the tool will prevent rupture of the bladder and urethra when the hind quarters of the animal are spread apart for removing the intestines. This keeps urine off the meat. The intestines can then be removed with a clear canal through the pelvis. The invention is simple to use, safe for the user, and can easily be carrier into the field by a hunter for generations to come.Want to learn more about the Big Game Pelvic Splitter?
