Story Behind the Invention
Inventor Kristin Koehler has created a new collapsible and expandable outdoor propane firepit!Having lived in Colorado for most of her life, Kristin is a real outdoor enthusiast, which certainly includes camping with family and friends. One of her favorite parts is the evening fire, where everyone gathers together and laughs. Unfortunately, because of all the wildfires, not only in the United States, but globally, fire bans have been mandated for much of the camping season. The only open campfires allowed are propane firepits. The idea was born in frustration while preparing for her camping trip with all her sisters and their kids. Packing for this trip was an incredible challenge. The trunk of her SUV was cram-packed with all the necessary camping gear, along with various watercrafts and toys. Some of these items included tents, foldable tables, chairs, water jugs, rafts, paddle boards, coolers, not to mention food and clothing. The list went on and on! A propane firepit was essential, BUT it was the size of a mini fridge at 21 inches in diameter, 17 inches high, and shaped like an hourglass. It took up so much room. This was incredibly frustrating! In addition to the issue of packing a full-size propane firepit, just carrying it was heavy, awkward, and cumbersome. While driving to the campsite, Kristin thought, "There's gotta be a way to shrink that thing!" Since it looks like the fire ban restrictions are going to be a part of our lives from here on out, she knew there just had to be a solution. In turn, she was inspired to develop a collapsible firepit that could slide right in, vertically, horizontally, or even at an angle, taking up minimal space, with easy portability.Additionally, while mulling it over, she realized there would be multiple advantages to this firepit, even in the absence of a fire ban. Campers could enjoy a campfire at a moment's notice, extinguish and store it within minutes, and avoid smokey smelling clothes all together! Now with a new and improved design! Contact us for details!
