Story Behind the Invention

Inventors Gordon G. Carlson and Lois E. Carlson of Irvine, CA have created a ceiling mounted retractable rod for hanging clothes indoors.

While doing laundry, the gathering, sorting, washing, drying, folding, ironing, and returning of the clean clothes to their storage location is a difficult, time consuming, and ever-repeating task. Some clothes must be dried on a hanger rather than be subjected to the aggressive and damaging process of an automatic dryer. Drying could take hours or even days. Clothes may also get much more wrinkled, perhaps dirty, and certainly, make the laundry area look cluttered and unorganized. Inventors Carlson have created a means by which laundry on hangers can be temporarily hung in an easily accessible location without these disadvantages.

This clever new invention is retractable in design. A rod lowers to floor level. It then keeps clothes out of the way while drying. Clothes stay clean, neat, and wrinkle-free. It is ideal for small laundry rooms. The use of the Clothes Hanging Assembly allows clothes to dry naturally without taking up valuable indoor living space.
