Story Behind the Invention

Inventor Collett L. Kirchner, a rancher from Del Bonita, AB has created an apparatus to allow for the usage of insect repellant around the head of horses.

One major issue with livestock, especially in the summertime months, is insect control. These pests affect every aspect of an animals day. Insects can bite, sting and lay eggs. This causes horses to be irritable, in pain, and can even make them seriously ill.Their head is among the most important areas to protect as insects will lay eggs, which cause scar tissue build up inside the ears, and may cause blindness and infection. Unfortunately, nostrils, eyes, and ears are a favorite nesting spot for many insects.Sprays, masks, and other devices may be used, but many horses react badly to them, and end up causing more harm than good. Inventor Kirchner has created an improved means by which a horse can be protected from insects about their head area.

This clever new invention is a harness for homemade natural insect repellent. It repels flies and other insects. It increases the overall health of the horse. It does not rely on dangerous chemicals, adhesives, or electricity. It can be adapted for use on other animals as well. The use of the Equestrian Harness with Pockets for Insect Repellant provides a unique means of keeping insects away from the head of a horse, without negatively impacting the horse.
