Story Behind the Invention

Cornwall, Ontario Inventors Clifford Ransom & Valerie Buttle announce their patented invention known as Landscape Edging with Integral Illumination and Irrigation Means.

Inventors Ransom & Buttle developed this clever innovation, which is an all-purpose landscape edging system that provides an attractive edge between plantings and grass areas that features a channel for low-wattage lighting effects as well as connectors for an optional bed sprinkler. The invention resembles conventional plastic landscape edging, but includes a set of string lights that is inserted into an open, tube-like top. The lights use low-voltage wiring, electrical couplings to join adjacent sections and are powered by means of a direct plug-in, transformer pack, solar cells or even batteries. Alternatively, controls may be added to provide a timer, a light sequencing module or a dusk-to-dawn sensor. The water irrigation system also provides couplings to join adjacent sections and fittings to attach said system to available water supply sources. The use of Landscape Edging with Integral Illumination and Irrigation Means provides an aesthetically pleasing look that both controls the landscape and enhances it with illumination, providing better visibility for a safe, secure passageway.
