Story Behind the Invention
Inventor Gary J. Stephens of Montauk, NY has created a dual purpose hand tool that aids in the cutting, digging and hoeing of the soil.
One task common to many different lines of work is that of digging in the earth. Whether one is digging for a hole, trench, foundation, or planting, a shovel or hoe are among the most commonly grabbed tools. A pick or axe is also chosen to cut through tough weeds, saplings, or even roots as well. This requires multiple tools to be brought to the work site and requires time to switch between one tool, and another as needs dictate. This also adds to the complexity of the job, and increases aggravation as well. Multiple tools also require more storage space in sheds, garages, or on trucks. Inventor Stephens has created a means by which one hand tool can perform cutting, hoeing, and digging operations.
This clever new invention performs the functions of three tools. It uses an isosceles trapezoid-shaped blade and is of a heavy duty steel design. It saves storage space and is great for landscapers. The use of the Spade and Shovel Combination provides those who frequently dig in earth, the ability to do so in a manner which is quick, easy, and effective.
