Tarred Roofing Nail

Inventor Christopher P. Garvin of South Lyme, CT has designed a specialized roofing nail for pneumatic nail guns to aid in sealing holes and preventing roof leaks.

Anyone involved in the roofing business will tell you what a strenuous business it is.  A typical day involves carrying heavy loads,enduring high temperatures and scorching sun, climbing steep roofs all the while working at dangerous elevations. Anything that reduces work or allows for a better job is welcome.  One task that must often be performed is thatof sealing roofing nails with tar after they have been installed in various roofing materials.  Such a task is not only messy, but takes additional time, resulting in lost profits.  Should such nails not be sealed, roof leaks may result, causing warranty work and/or unhappy customers.  Inventor Garvinhas created a means by which roofing nails can be sealed in place both easily and quickly.

This clever new invention has tar under each nail head, which allows the nail to be sealed as it is installed.  The nails would be made available in different lengths, and provided in a coil.  The use of the Tarred Roofing Nail ensures that roofing nails used with roofing material will not be the source of future leaks.
