Story Behind the Invention

Inventors Diannia Walker and Falme A. Lampkins of Sacramento, CA have created a collapsible parking cone to aid in reserving space along a handicapped van for wheelchair and/or ramp access.Individuals confined to wheelchairs are faced with obstacles on a daily basis that most of us take for granted. Simple travel from place to place becomes a major undertaking that requires considerable effort. Many times handicapped parking spaces are not wide enough for a wheel chair ramp, forcing users to park far away. Even if a parking space is open, a neighboring spot is often occupied by another parked vehicle when returning. This can leave the wheelchair bound user stranded until the other vehicle can be moved. Inventors Walker and Lampkins have created a means by which the necessary space alongside a vehicle used with a wheelchair can be reserved. This clever new invention ensures a space will not be taken by another vehicle. The product is highly visible. It allows access for ramps or mechanical lifts. It is lightweight and easy to transport. It is simple to manufacture. The use of the Collapsible Pylon provides a means to easily reserve space for wheelchair access in a manner which is not only quick, easy, and effective, but safe as well.
