Story Behind the Invention
Inventor Jacob Pritchard of Mount Shasta, CA has created an electrical junction box with pass-through apertures for enclosing open air splices without having to disassemble the existing splice.
A common electrical code violation found in a typical home is that of open air splices. These splices are often found in attic and basement locations where taps are made for new outlets, light fixtures, and other electrical loads. These splices, however, pose a severe safety risk from the standpoint of arcing and the possibility of catching adjacent material, such as wood, on fire. For this reason, splices must be made in an approved junction box to contain such arcing. Plus, the installation usually requires the experience of a licensed electrician which is costly. It also requires that the splice be disassembled which interrupts electrical service in the home. In turn, with over a decade in the professional electrical trade, Pritchard developed the Gator Box!
Users will simply install the box around the splice and close the lid. This will take just minutes compared to hours! This safe, straightforward process will be appreciated by both professionals and do-it-yourselfers alike.
