Story Behind the Invention
Inventor Michael E. Beckman of Lebanon, TN has created a detachable floodlight assembly that allows users to remain safely and firmly on the ground while performing floodlight maintenance.
After a complete shoulder replacement, Beckman attempted to use an extended pole bulb gripper to change his outside floodlights. The pole was too short, however, so he rigged it to his telescopic vacuum pole for his swimming pool. Although this worked several times, the entire setup was very shaky and difficult to maneuver. In fact, a bulb once dropped from the gripper and exploded into tiny pieces all over the sidewalk. In trying to put the new bulb in place, Beckman had to awkwardly angle the bulb with the long pole with the attached extended pool vacuum pole. This led to another dropped bulb! After that, he just knew there had to be a better way. In turn, he developed My Safety Light!
This clever new invention eliminates the need to use an awkward bulb replacement tool or climb a ladder. After the needed adjustments, users will simply raise the detachable assembly back into place. The product can also be used with a motion detector or camera.
