Story Behind the Invention
Inventor Austin Caldwell of Pleasant Hills, PA has created a self-defense knife that deploys from a protective glove. These days, personal safety has never been more important. Many people turn to handguns to provide personal protection for themselves and their family. However, many local and state laws have certain gun restrictions in place. Knives are also an excellent means of protecting oneself, but a user must get close to their assailant in order to use a knife. Also, the knife can be easily knocked out of ones hand, where it can be used on them by the assailant. With these things in mind, Austin was inspired to develop the D-Prax Armblade! The invention will help people deal with strict gun laws. It will also be useful for people with dyspraxia or hand disorders such as deformities, birth defects, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, tendinitis, and more. The invention utilizes a knife with a blade that is approximately six to eight inches long and is attached to a protective glove by a deployment mechanism. The glove is a long-sleeve design that comes up to nearly the elbow and is made of chainmail or similar protective covering. The glove is attached to the knife and deployment mechanism by use of metal bands that run around the hands like a watch band. This keeps the knife in place whether or not the user is grabbing it. The deployment mechanism is activated via a spring-loaded pushbutton. Various colors and styles are possible.Want to learn more about the D-Prax Armblade?
