Story Behind the Invention

Inventor Lawrence Mayden of Overland Park, KS has created a way to increase the efficiency of an array of solar cells in a manner that is easy, efficient, and cost effective.

The idea was born one sunny day while standing under a clear canopy in the park. The canopy was made of an array of square domes composed of a clear material. Lawrence noticed the dome concentrated the sunlight on the concrete. This got him thinking. He saw the potential in using the same curved clear material in a half pipe shape and fitting it onto a solar panel to concentrate sunlight and increase the output of the panel. This discovery led to the creation of the Solar Collector!

This clever new invention increases solar panel output. It reduces recovery of investment and makes solar panels more affordable. The device is easy to install and lightweight.
