Waterproof Electrical Outlet

Inventor Allen Leal, an electrician from Bryan, TX has created a weatherproof cover for electrical outlets installed in round, light-fixture style electrical boxes.

Light fixtures are typically installed in walls or ceilings using a round electrical box. Should the light fixture be replaced at some point in the future, a new light fixture is simply screwed into place. However, a potential problem arises if a conventional electrical outlet or GFI outlet is getting installed instead. These devices are designed to be installed in rectangular boxes, and will not adapt to round boxes as used with light fixtures. This means the box must be removed and replaced which greatly complicates the project. The task which should have only taken minutes, will now take hours, or even days, depending on the wall construction. Inventor Leal has created a means by which an outlet or GFI can be installed in a round electrical box without issue. The device can be used for round residential and commercial boxes.

This clever new invention eliminates time consuming and costly replacement of a box. The device maintains water tight properties when a cord is not connected.
