Story Behind the Invention

Inventor Bander S. Alghamdi has created an electronic apparatus that continually displays the current roadway speed limit to a driver, along with alerting features should the limit be exceeded.

With the ever increasing volume of cars on the road, injuries and deaths resulting from traffic accidents continue to be an all too common occurrence. While some of these accidents are related to weather, poor driving conditions, or mechanical failure, many are due to driver distraction. Speed limit signs can be missed, especially in areas where the speed limit frequently changes. While speed limit changes may not result in an accident, they can result in very expensive tickets and points against ones license.

The invention consists of a GPS receiver which monitors a vehicles current location. The GPS receiver works with an internal database of all roads along with their current speed limits. This database is continually updated via a continuous connection to the internet via a 3G/4G radio connection, or a data connection through a satellite radio system such as SiriusXM. The current applicable speed limit is displayed upon a digital/analog display on the dashboard area. Should the current speed of the vehicle exceed the speed limit, an audible or visual warning will activate.
