Story Behind the Invention

Inventor Daniel K. Ellis of Tempe, AZ has created an innovative new system to keep your reusable straws as clean as the day they came out of the box if not cleaner!

The inspiration first came from a Facebook post his daughter sent him about plastic pollution on beaches and wounded sea life. She posted about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch and how it is larger than the size of France! This stayed on his mind and got him thinking. One day while surfing Facebook and listening to the news, he heard them talk about the disposable straw crisis in California. Although reusable straws are the responsible option, the straws do need properly sanitized to ensure the cleanliness and safety of each straw that goes into a restaurant customer or family members mouth. In turn, he was inspired to develop the Reusable Straw Sanitizing System!

This is a compact countertop appliance with a heating element that heats water or a cleaning solution to a sanitizing temperature. The device can be used with one or more reusable straws. Not only will you be able to take pride in knowing you are helping the environment, the invention will also save you money, as you will never have to buy disposable straws again. Restaurant and home models are possible.
