Story Behind the Invention
Inventor Cindy B. Cummings of New Hope, MN has created a device that measures both International Normalized Ratio (INR) blood levels and glucose levels.
Many people suffer from diabetes or blood clotting disorders. In this case, it is necessary for them to take daily medicine and also have their blood tested, sometimes on a daily basis, to ensure the proper levels of medication are being consumed. This is performed by a blood glucose test for diabetics and an International Normalized Ratio (INR) test for blood clotting disorders. Those suffering from both disorders must undergo both tests. This of course takes time out of ones day leading to a financial impact and inconvenience as well. The idea for the INR-Glucose Monitor and Meter came to Inventor Cummings while at a clinic getting an INR reading. She thought to herself, There has to be an easier way to keep track of my numbers along with the numbers for my diabetes!
For individuals who would rather test themselves at the same time, whether it be in their own home or at a clinic, this product is for you! It is battery powered and can be used anywhere. It eliminates frequent trips to the hospital or lab. It saves money on doctor visits. The user simply performs a standard pin prick test, applies blood to the strips, and then inserts them into the slot on the invention. The results are provided on the digital screen.
