Story Behind the Invention

Inventor Imad Nahas of Lancaster, CA has created a bicycle with a hydraulic drive system in lieu of a conventional chain and sprocket system.

A popular exercise activity is bicycle riding. The muscular and cardiovascular workout associated with this activity makes it a great way to stay fit, as well as an ecologically friendly way to get from one place to another. Bicycle riding can also save a large amount of gasoline during times of high fuel prices. While bicycle technology has changed over the years, one basic aspect which has not is the chain and sprocket system used to transfer the mechanical energy from the rider's legs to the bicycle wheel. These drive systems are noisy, prone to failure, and potentially dangerous should an article of clothing or an extremity become caught in the chain. Inventor Nahas has created a means by which an alternative method of bicycle propulsion can be provided which addresses the deficiencies

This clever new invention uses hydraulic energy transfer. Hydraulic fluid is inside of tubing. It offers improved shifting, silent operation, and fewer moving parts. It reduces maintenance. It allows for an aesthetically appealing design of a bicycle with smooth lines. The use of the Hybrid Hydraulic Operated Bicycle provides bicycle riders an alternative to the dirty, noisy, and potentially dangerous chain and sprocket drive system, in a manner which is quick, easy, and effective.
