Story Behind the Invention

Inventor Beverly J. Mix of Murdo, SD has created a new compact countertop appliance that provides the perfect temperature for baking frozen bread products or baking bread from scratch.

Mix never had much luck with using a pre-heated oven on low to raise dough, as recommended on the frozen bread dough sack. In the past, Mix would actually put her frozen bread dough on pans and place them on her waterbed to rise. Other times she would use a heat storage unit to raise her bread to the perfect height for baking. However, since most houses now have air conditioning, they dont get hot enough for dough to rise. Countertops are too cool. Plus, there are significantly more houses with electric stoves than gas stoves, so placing dough above the pilot light is out of the question for many. There is nothing better than the smell of baking bread. Mix just knew there had to be another way. In turn, she developed the Dough Riser!

Now dough can be raised in a warm controlled environment that eliminates factors which can negatively impact the baking process. Users will fill the removable bladder with tap water and place it on top of the heater. They will then simply plug the appliance in, adjust the temperature control, and set pans of dough on top of the bladder, so the dough rises to a desired height. Its that easy! This appliance can also be used for other things such as thawing certain foods and speeding up the soaking process such as with dry beans or peas.
