Story Behind the Invention

Inventor Travis Egger of Parma, OH has created an automatic candle snuffer that will extinguish a candle after a pre-set amount of time.

Although candles add great ambiance to a night at home or while entertaining, they also represent a great safety risk. Many people fall asleep with their candles lit or simply forget to blow them out. This has personally happened to Travis, as well as others he knows. Not only does this present a devastating fire risk for you and your loved ones, it also wastes your candle wax. Travis just knew there had to be a better way. In turn, he developed the Candle Guardian!

The invention is simply wrapped around a candle via a nylon strap and Velcro. As the candleburns, the devices flat circular lid is held open via a hinge and support arm. Upon reaching a pre-set time, the timing device will then lower the lid, so it covers the opening of the candle, thus extinguishing the flame. Not only will this prevent fires and save you a lot of worry, it will also prolong the life of your favorite candles.
